The first day is an introduction to my technique for those students willing to forego a ‘drawing in’ method – at least to give it a go! The tutor will do individual checks to determine the ratio of experience in the pastel medium rather than ‘preaching’ to more established artists. A simple still life set up to commence with demonstration, with perhaps a second arrangement if time permits. This is in preparation for the more exacting lessons in portraiture and life drawing as the emphasis is on positive and negative areas worked concurrently. If the weather is fine it may be possible to spend one session en plein air.
